Trend to Try: Fuchsia Lips!

Beauty | 30 July 2012

by

Maybe you caught our trial of four fine orange hues last May? This time we’re playing it pink (and purple!) by testing out four fuchsia hues that will keep you rolling from morning to midnight!
1. Radiant Moisturizing Lipstick in Daphne: From the passionate company, Radiant, who works towards ending human trafficking, this light berry hue is deep enough to wear to work, but lively enough for a night out.
2. Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Crush: Creamy and by far the most opaque of the looks we tried, this color is the hot sauce of the group. Hot pink-gone-fuchsia lights up your lips for the ultimate finish-fetish.
3. Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Fuchsia Flash Matte: Bright and pure, this berry has plenty of color, with a matte finish.
4. Milani Haute Flash in Flashy: One of the newest products from Milani, this is actually a lip gloss with a fine glittery finish. Super sweet, pink and girly!

Trend to Try: Sculpted Shoulders!

Fashion | 29 November 2011

Are you ready to try some sculpted shoulders?

Okay, maybe that’s a bit extreme, but between Lady Gaga, Rhianna and tons of other fashionable celebs, the pointy shoulder thing has gone from extreme to mainstream. Ranging from large conical protuberances down to a little pinch and tuck, I think there is a padded/pointed/sculpted shoulder for everyone!

Victoria Beckham, Alexander McQueen and Naya Rivera of Glee.

Rhianna went casual in this sculpted sweater dress, and Anne Hathaway is looking positively divine in this glamorous sequin gown.

So, are you ready?

Trend to Try: Sequin Tap Shorts!

Fashion | 11 November 2011

Do you hear that sound? It’s the sound of one of my favorite new trends tapping its way into your heart.

With waves of sequin tap shorts passing by my desk this fall, I couldn’t help but take a little interest; I mean, glitter IS addictive. Any hesitation I had was quelled when, for my sister’s bachelorette party, my cousin Angie showed up in some perfect little black tap shorts! Paired with a casual blouse and some sexy black tights, they were a total hit. Check out how some the big names are wearing them!

The glamorous Olivia Palermo in a bold beaded jacket and magnificent sequin shorts. She makes it all look casual with a simple hair-do and a basic white shirt to tie it all together.

Little Miss Selena Gomez rocking tap shorts on the red carpet!

Annabelle of Viva Luxury mixing warm and cool-weather pieces for a between-seasons look that made my jaw drop!

How to Wear High-Waisted Shorts and Skirts: The Ultimate Vintage Look

Fashion | 08 February 2011

The high-waisted trend has been around since the 1940s and it will be around for quite some time, which I am ecstatic about! It is the ideal fashion tip to elongate your legs and accentuate your waist. High-waisted bottoms are also a solution to every girl’s dread: the muffin top. The key is to find bottoms that hit your natural waist and hug your hips. Who doesn’t want to look like a tall vintage-inspired beauty queen?
Here are some style tips of how to attain the classic and sophisticated high-waist style:

1. Make sure your high-waisted shorts are nice and snug, they will be unflattering on you if there is bunching of the fabric.
2. Cropped tops are ideal for the high-waist look because of how easy they tuck in. Tuck in your shirt if you want to pull off this look, but don’t pull the top out too much because this adds volume to your waist. Also, do not tuck in too much or else you will look stiff and uncomfortable.
3. Belts are a great addition to this look. Pick a skinny belt to draw attention to your high-waisted style, or to emphasize your upper body and cinch your waist, a wide belt is perfect!
4. Heels heels heels! These are the perfect final touch to this look because heels add to the elongated look of the legs.

Here are some perfect options from Lulu*s to start you off with this trend the right way:

Now you are ready to show off your vintage-inspired look?
