Girl Crush: The Cast of HBO's Girls

General | 16 May 2012

by

I dont have cable. Even though I love watching TV, I mostly get to watch it later through Netflix or Hulu Plus. About a month ago, I acquired my friend’s HBO Go login. So I had heard no hype about the new HBO show Girls (was there even any at all? I’m seriously unaware). Thank goodness my curiosity took the better of me, because I found some major new girl crushes.

The show follows Hannah (played by Lena Dunham who also wrote and directed the show) and her three friends; the free-spirited Jessa (Jemmia Kirke), the semi-uptight, seemingly perfect Marnie (Allison Williams), and hilariously innocent Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet). What I like most about the show is that it seems real to me, and I can connect all the characters to my life situations, or even people I know.
For me, I have two clear favorites (Shoshanna and Jessa!) but really, every girl is totally crush worthy. Hannah’s quirky humor paired with Marnie’s sensable ways makes them the perfect best friend duo.
Do you watch Girls? Who is your fav character?

Alexa Chung's 24 Hour Catwalk Series Premiere

News | 10 January 2012

by

So, did you hear that Alexa Chung has a new show? And this time it’s all about fashion?? Yes!!!! 24 Hour Catwalk premieres tonight (Tuesday, January 10th @ 10/9c), and let me just tell you why my DVR is set to record.

Yeah, it’s kind of another Project Runway (which just premiered an “All-Star” season), but trade Heidi for Alexa, and trade Michael Kors & Co for designer Cynthia Rowley, fashion editor Derek Blasberg (New York Times best-selling author, Editor at Large for US Harper’s Bazaar, and Senior Editor of V, and VMan) and publicist James LaForce, (a “highly-regarded media and communications consultant”). Alright, I’m on board.

Now, instead of a whole cast and a whole season, we get four new designers per episode (slashed to two after a “first cut” elimination challenge), who have 24 hours (a-ha!) to complete a full runway collection. The prize: $10,000. Not bad. Also, the designers are provided with a “talented and opinionated” sewing team to help them make it to the finish line. Cue the drama. Add in some mystery trunks, and we’ve got a healthy blend of everything I love to see in my reality TV queue.

Oh, sneak peek? Don’t mind if I do…

Afraid you’re going to miss it? Worry not! You can watch the first full episode here. And for future reference, watch Tuesdays at 10/9c on Lifetime. Now here’s hoping Alexa makes a ton of wardrobe changes…
