Listen Up! She & Him Volume 3

She & Him  = Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward

she & him

Well aren’t we excited! After months of anticipation, our favorite lounge/folk duo, She & Him, releases their latest album entitled simply, “Volume 3″. Having tempted us with the single “Never Wanted Your Love” earlier this year, we found ourselves all wrapped up in the ripening sound of this airy, upbeat group. Fronted by our favorite “New Girl”, Zooey Deschanel, the album makes good on the retro, sixties sound we’ve come to know and cherish from She & Him, and you can almost imagine Zooey sitting along a sunny fence singing happily like a little bird.

I mean, how can you not melt a little over lyrics like “I know a girl from a lonely street, cold as ice cream but still as sweet” on the track Sunday Girl that dishes up a full verse in Zooey’s breathy French? If you’re a fan of dreamy, seventies-esque keyboard chords, then you’re going to love the track “Somebody Sweet to Talk To”, and the super catchy lyrics of “Together” are soon to be your next summer singalong.

Fans can catch She & Him on their short summer 2013 tour, or you can skip the crowds and catch this album. Released today!

Site to See: Hello Giggles

If you love Zooey Deschanel, then you are going to swoooon over this site:

“Founded by actress/musician ZOOEY DESCHANEL, producer SOPHIA ROSSI and writer/Internet Sensation MOLLY MCALEER, hellogiggles.com is the ultimate entertainment destination for smart, independent and creative females. Everything hosted on the site will be lady-friendly, so visitors need not worry about finding the standard Boys Club content that makes many entertainment sites unappealing to so many of us.”

This site has articles on pretty much everything you could ever want, from awesome recipes to outfit inspirations, to video games, art, and work-related topics. I seriously can (okay, fine, have) spent hours perusing everything on here, and I love the quirky off-beat humor that threads through every article and has Zooey and her friends written all over it.

In addition to music, videos, shopping, and discussion forums, the individual categories include Entertainment, Treats, Beauty, Fresh Giggles, Cuteness, Home, Social Studies, Rants, Raves, How-Tos, Hot Moms, Hee Haw, and the Daily. You need it, they have it!

Intrigued yet? Head on over to Hello Giggles to check it out for yourself, or find them on Facebook and YouTube!

What's Up with Fringe Bangs?

Beauty | 23 February 2012

Sure, girls like Zooey have been rocking the fringe bangs for years, but with the brow-grazing looks sweeping across the red carpet, it’s time to take a closer look. Stars like Jessica Biel, Liv Tyler and Rachel McAdams have most recently made the cut, following in the snips . . . er, steps . . . of celebs like Reese Witherspoon and Olivia Wilde.

What do you think of the fringe bangs? Who’s got the best look?

A Very She & Him Christmas Album!

Music | 01 December 2011

Are you a fan of Christmas music? Do you listen to Jingle Bells at work, with your ear buds hidden under a Santa hat? Well, the She & Him Christmas Album may be JUST what you’ve been waiting for.

Our favorite “adorkable” actress, Zooey Deshanel, paired up with fellow musician, Matt Ward, in 2008 for an initial collaboration, which turned into a touring band and (low-and-behold) their newest full-length album, A Very She & Him Christmas. This is the album to play after Christmas Eve dinner, with a glass of champagne and a basket of sugar cookies. Just be sure to wear a puffy polka dot dress and a poinsettia behind your ear in the spirit of Zooey!

The album features Indie-fied versions of all your favorites, and the cinnamon-sprinkled voice of Zooey that will forever remind me of Christmastime, after her role as Jovie in Elf. While some may argue the album a bit sleepy, I would put it in the “visions of sugarplums” category. You can listen for yourself here.

Let us know what YOU think!
